Medicare

Accepted by most doctors and hospitals that accept Medicare.
Greater freedom to choose providers nationwide who accept Medicare.
Generally, no prior authorization required for covered services.
Coverage through the federal Medicare program.
You can add supplemental coverage to help with costs.

Medicare Advantage

Offered by private insurance companies.
Provider networks might limit your choice of doctors and hospitals.
Prior authorization may be required for certain services, adding additional steps before care is received.
Plans and costs may vary.
May include extra benefits not covered by Medicare.
